Excluding tree branches from internal search

Hi all,

How can I exclude particular tree branches from my internal search. I have sections in my structure I don't want to be indexed and searchable.

I have a homePage page type under my main homePage page type (to be able to have multiple sub-sites), and would like to exclude the sub-one from the main search. Is there an easy way to do it?
