No removal protection with LinkCollection?

It seems that LinkCollection properties pointing to pages are not taken into account when pages are moved to recycle bin or deleted (like with ordinary page references). I can delete a linked page with no warning. Is this "by design" (I can imagine there could be difficulties getting it to work) or is it a bug? Using R2 SP2.

Yes, you should get the same link protection as with the rich text editor since the PropertyLinkCollection values is stored in a-tags.
Remeber that there is a delay before the a page is indexed that by default is 20 seconds after publishing a page.
