using DisplayChannels in hybrid MVC Webforms solution

Is it possible to use display channels in a solution that has webforms and MVC templates?
For a certain display channel A we would like to use an MVC view and for display channel B we would like to use Webfroms.
I tested displaychannels in webforms and that works just fine.
When i add an MVC view in the same solution and use a template descriptor on the controller then it does not work.
Has anyome used DisplayChannels in a mixed Webforms / MVC solution?
